Merry Christmas

Hello my friend. It has been so long since I have been here, do you come here often? Things have been on the move, but then I guess they never sit still. Merry Christmas, by the way, I hope that went well for you.
Beth and I had a lovely time here with our families. The gift giving spree was perhaps a little excessive, but it was wonderful to have the means to enjoy it.
I’ll have to start with a bit of a recap, I think. Beth and I graduated from our colleges this summer and have both moved back to the Portland area. I quickly started my new job with FEI as a Service Engineer Intern and was hired on full time at the end of September. Since then I’ve been on the road a lot trying to learn as much as I can as quickly as possible. It’s taken me 6 or 7 months of reading and asking questions, but I’m finally starting to get a feel for these systems. Just this last week I went out on my first calls by myself and I’m very excited that I was able to handle most of what I ran into.
Beth has found a job as well. She has been working the Christmas season at Barns and Noble and has been really enjoying it. Books are one of her passions, so to get to spend her time working with some really great people on a product she loves seems to be suiting here well for now.
With both of us working we have moved into a new apartment together. It’s really nice to have our own space finally. I’ve put some pictures of our new home up in the gallery. It’s a two bedroom apartment, but we’ve completely taken the second bedroom up with book shelves and a desk. We love having that room setup as a library; it’s wonderfully peaceful to spend time in.
The other major change is that we have a new little kitten running around too. Beth picked her up a couple weeks ago and we’ve named her Natasha. When we got her she was 8 weeks old and only weighed 13 ounces. Since then she has grown to be a little more than 2 pounds, which is still really tiny. The vet says that when she is fully grown she probably won’t be any bigger than 5 pounds. She won’t ever be a big cat, but is a great size for our small apartment. The place is just big enough that we’re never quite sure which nook she is going to leap out of next to attack us.
There has been a minor change here at the website too. I’ve gotten tired of fighting spam every week on the forum, so I just took it down.
