Trouble, Trouble

Today’s comic is going to get me into trouble… I just know it. Thank goodness there aren’t too many militant feminists on campus this year.

Amended: This comic did get me into trouble and the school refused to print it. But I still like it and Jackie did a great job drawing it!

The feedback:

“hey doerr– wanted to let you know that the vote was not to run the comic because of the last frame. most of the staff were just a little uncomfortable with “i’m so drunk” as a pick up line, because the thinking that follows is that girls who are drunk want to get picked up… and then you’re getting into issues about rape etc. etc. etc. and i know it is a comic, for chrissakes, and it’s probably true for some, but we still don’t want to promote that idea, even as a joke.”

My response:

“I understand your concern, and thank you for addressing me with it. The comic was not intended as a negative reflection on women in the least, my intentions were a slight on men. I don’t know all the reasons behind it but certain portions of our school population seem more comfortable approaching a female when her ‘beer goggles’ are firmly attached. I find this ridiculous, I think drinking and dating are one of the worst possible combinations if you don’t already know the person. We don’t drive drunk, why would we do something even more life threatening?

Cheers”

The weather is starting to turn cold on us here. There was frost on the ground this morning which means winter is fast on its way. I’m kind of bummed about that though, usually I love winter, but this year it means I have to put my motorcycle away in storage for the next 6 months. We’ll have to just wait and see I guess. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one last trip in this fall before it gets too cold.
