Gone, I’ve been gone.

You’ll have to excuse me for running off and leaving for 3 months with barely a word. I have a legitimate excuse… I swear. A week after turning around and finally getting my drivers license I went out, bought a motorcycle and got my motorcycle license. Yes, that’s right, in that order. I was late for my first motorcycle class because I was waiting for the guy to drop the bike off at my school. It’s a horribly exciting and infuriating experience having a nice new beautiful red motorcycle to sit on and touch when you aren’t allowed, and don’t even know how, to ride it. But it’s mine, all mine.
Since then I’ve become much more accustomed to riding and have gone through a number of trials. Pretty much as soon as I could wrap up my school work for the summer I hopped on my bike and headed for [[Walla Walla, WA]]. Two thousand miles, 4 days, and a couple break downs later I arrived, much to the surprise of my girlfriend. Wouldn’t that be nice though? Coming home from class and just having the boyfriend you haven’t seen for a few months sitting in your room? She thought it was anyways… Heading back to Iowa was a bit more of an ordeal. I made good time, except for one incident in Denver where an off ramp was covered in gravel. I laid the bike down doing 30 and was off the road for a week because of it. I was fine. I walked away from the accident with a couple bruises and some minor damage to the bike. The real pain from the whole thing was the phone bill from working remotely on my cell. (Now ‘that’ hurt.)
Things are going to be pretty busy here for the rest of the summer. I’m being sent out of the country to Canada, and then England, to continue some of the research I’m doing at Coe at different labs. I’m looking forward to it and I’ll see what I can do to post about it as it comes up. At the moment, I’m still trying to convince my friends who are out and about to add their journals to this site, I think it would be a perfect fit, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind the extra space.
